Vixen won't
So many of you lovelies have asked me if I am going to Vixen. No, I am not.
As many of you know the awards have been the focus of controversy the last few years, it's created a lot of conflict between bloggers. I don't need that in my life.
There's also been confusion around who decides who wins. It has been suggested that even the categories that are supposed to be decided by public votes are rigged. Voting doesn't even give a true picture. It's easy to see who has the most followers, the most clicks. But is that what blogging is all about? I don't think so. Influencing is not about clicks.
In the end, I love you, my lovely, dedicated follower, and my award are the daily stream of messages and comments from you, telling me I have influence on your life. That's why I do this. I have won.
I have been to Vixen a couple of times, and it's been a blast. To me it's a great party (and a great opportunity to wear a fabulous outfit ;), meeting friends and colleagues, networking, keeping up with the business, and seeing what engages people, and just having a sparkly good time.
This last year there has been several conflicts between bloggers, and it has stolen a lot of the focus from Vixen and other events, when it should be about celebrating our achievements. Some of the people who has been given a hard time are good friends of mine. I support them fully, but this year I chose to just stay away from the negative vibes I have experienced at some of the blogger events.

I just love my new fake fur coat. It is warm, cosy and gorgeus, without any cruelty involved! |
